Alan Bissett “More Moira Monologues”
Tanners Pub, Juniper Green Thursday 16th November at 7.30pm
Alan Bissett performs his second one-woman play about Moira Bell, a cleaner, a single mother and “the hardest woman in Falkirk”. Returning to the Pentlands Book Festival after last year’s visit, when he went down a storm, Alan’s performance of “More Moira Monologues” contains adult material and follows his hugely successful run at this year’s Fringe. So take the chance to meet Moira, a woman who’ll make you laugh, for sure, but along the way, might cause you to reconsider Scottish class and culture. An award-winning novelist, playwright and performer, Alan Bissett grew up in Falkirk, and to date he’s written three novels, more than ten plays and a documentary. In this terrific sequel to Alan Bissett’s long-running hit, Moira Bell is now a granny –  a turn of events that seems to bring out the best and the worst in her. Scotsman Fringe First Award "A near-perfect series of new monologues, both howlingly funny and unnervingly sharp and poetic." ***** The Scotsman "Such a riot my ears popped a couple of times from the row behind me shouting with laughter." ***** The National "Great hilarity, simple truths and some profound moments too: it's no wonder Moira has such a loyal following." **** The List
