San Ghanny means “We Shall Sing” in arabic …
Earlier this year the San Ghanny choir went to Palestine as an act of international solidarity and cultural exchange. Now they launch their book and CD with a performance at the Pentlands Book Festival.  Expect some great singing and stories of resilience which encapsulate the dignity with which Palestinians live their lives under occupation. San Ghanny is a local choir of thirteen, formed in 2011 by Penny Stone, well-known campaigning song writer and musician. The choir went with her to the West Bank where she had been a human rights observer, to use music and song in non-violent solidarity with the Palestinian people.   San Ghanny members have now visited Palestine twice as a choir, and this year they have collected the stories they heard along with a few songs they have learned and adapted into a book and CD to accompany their performances around Scotland.
