Dr. Anne Pia, poet, essayist and translator, writes in English, French, Italian and Scots. She was a Saltire Award Finalist for First Best Book: Language of my Choosing; winner of the Crawford Gallery Cork, Flash Fiction Competition in 2020 and in 2018 was awarded the prestigious Premio Flaiano Italianistica: La Cultura Italiana nel Mondo. She is an Associate of the Centre for Poetic Innovation at the University of St Andrews; a member of the Guild of Food Writers; and has sat on the judging panel for the Saltires: Scottish National Book Awards (Poetry and Non-Fiction).

Her latest poetry collection, A Month O Muins, recently published by Drunk Muse Press, is a versioning of the songs and poems of singer-songwriter, Georges Brassens in “everyday Scots”.
Writing within an extended linguistic context of English, Scots, French and Laziale Italian, Anne’s work focuses on migration-related issues, gender, otherness, and sexual identities. She has been a guest lecturer at the British Institute in Florence; the Fiera del Libro Torino, the University of Catania; l’Institut Français and the Istituto di Cultura here in Edinburgh. Invited by the Makar, she read at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in 2025.
