Radical Thinking: How to See the Bigger Picture

Monday 2 November 2026, 7.30pm.  Juniper Green Bowling Club, 600 Lanark Road, Juniper Green, EH14 5EN

Professor Peter Lamont (author, historian, psychologist, magician) reveals the things that shape your thoughts.  He explains how, by thinking in a radical way, you can look beyond your limited view of the world to see the bigger picture.  The talk, based on his recent book Radical Thinking, includes live demonstrations.

Peter Lamont is Professor of History and Theory of Psychology at the University of Edinburgh and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  He is also an Associate of the Inner Magic Circle (before he became an academic he worked as a magician).  He has published six books, and dozens of articles, on a variety of curious topics such as magic, belief, wonder, and critical thinking.

Peter’s popular books have been highly praised by a diverse range of folk, from Derren Brown and Teller (of Penn and Teller) to A. L. Kennedy and Hilary Mantel.  His most recent book, Radical Thinking: how to see the bigger picture, was published by Swift Press.
